Sophie Marsh is the founder and President of Brushline Design. She fell in love with letters as a small child and was fascinated by different type styles and how they were used to identify a brand, product and create emotion. The talent of sign painter, Bill Schofield, who would let her watch as he lettered boats at her uncle’s marina inspired her to pursue a career in Art.  She is an entrepreneur and for the past 34 years, Sophie has created eye-catching logos, hand-lettered signs and has a niche in gold leaf lettering on yacht transoms. Some well known boats she has lettered are "Brilliant" for Mystic Seaport and "Ticonderoga" which was featured in a photo shoot for Vineyard Vines marketing.

Sophie's goal is to provide timeless design for her customers’ unique identification needs. Trained in Commercial Art and a graduate of the Butera School of Art in Boston, Sophie founded Brushline Design in 1990. Everything created  for her first ten years was hand lettered. In 2000, Sophie added digital capabilities which included a vinyl cutter and a thermal printer allowing her to sell to a broader customer base.  With these additions she began to produce labels and overlays for the OEM product market. This spin-off has grown significantly in size and capability, flowing hundreds of thousands of yards of materials through her studio annually. 

When she doesn't have a paint brush in her hand, Sophie loves spending time with her husband of 30 years and her two lovely daughters and rescue pup, Geno. She is a Private Pilot and her interests include Scuba, rowing, boating and traveling.
